Activities

  In addition to strolling along the beach (Playa Troncones ), surfing/boogy boarding, lounging by the pool, massage, yoga, enjoying some quiet time in a hammock, whale watching or taking in the beautiful sunsets there are may other activities in Troncones and the surrounding area including: fishing, kayaking, horseback riding, scuba diving, golf, and more. Local, Troncones and the surrounding area , eco-tours ( jungle tours, exploring the local estuary, cave tours etc. ) can be arranged thru Costa Nativa Eco-tours run by Alejandro Rodriquez, an oceanographer who lives in Troncones. Ixtapa hosts two beautiful golf courses; Campo de Golf Ixtapa and Marina Ixtapa Golf Course. Small "panga" boats can be hired in Majahua, at the end of Playa Troncones ( a short drive down the beach road ), for fishing or day trips.  Sport fishing charters can also be arranged at the harbor in Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa. Zihuatanejo is also a major cruise ship destination with many shops down near the port selling local art, handicrafts, silver, pottery etc. Also available in Ixtapa are para sailing, water skiing, snorkeling trips to Ixtapa Island.     Troncones is also a designated turtle sanctuary. Trained personnel retrieve the eggs daily on  Troncones beach, allow them to hatch in protected areas on the beach, and release them to the Pacific in the evening.  Releases typically occur several times a week on the beach in front of Roberto's Bistro Restaurant, Troncones. There are a good number of restaurants in Troncones serving fresh local seafood, traditional Mexican food, steaks, pasta, and even pizza. Many are on the beach within easy walking distance.  There is a directory ( La Conexion ) in the Villa for your convenience. In Troncones village there are several family owned convenience stores where you can buy basic foods ( ala 7 Eleven ) and beverages.  In Zihuatanejo, there is a large warehouse type store, Soriana and Sams Club, where you can stock up on food and any other supplies you may need.
